East Hardy High Announces Microsoft Office Specialist State Champion

Isabella Henderson Places First in Microsoft Office Specialist Spring Qualifier for Microsoft PowerPoint 2016

East Hardy High School and Certiport (, a Pearson VUE business, announced Isabella Henderson has won first place for Microsoft PowerPoint 2016 in the Microsoft Office Specialist Spring State Championship. Isabella has been invited to showcase her expert skills using Microsoft PowerPoint at the 2017 Microsoft Office Specialist (MOS) U.S. National Championship in Orlando, Florida June 20 - 22.


Students age 13 to 22 were eligible to participate in one of six competition tracks by submitting a qualified, passing score on any of the Microsoft exams by May 19, 2017.


“Microsoft Office Specialist certification gives our students an edge in their academic pursuits,” said Shelia Kelican, Teacher. “The competition further motivates them to earn certification and we are proud of Isabella who has proven to be the best in our state.  We know she will go on to make us proud at the U.S. National Championship in June.”


During the 2017 MOS U.S. National Championship event, student competitors will take a unique competition exam in their track, further testing their knowledge of the applications. One winner per track will be named the 2017 MOS U.S. National Champion, and each will win an all-expenses-paid trip to compete in the 2017 MOS World Championship in Anaheim, California July 30 – August 2, 2017.


“We’re impressed by these students – not only have they proven they are the best in their state at using Microsoft Office products effectively, they now have an important distinction to place on their resume,” said Aaron Osmond, general manager, Certiport. “The title ‘Microsoft Office Specialist’ will serve them well in their academic and career pursuits.”
